Privacy Policy

Account data

Your email, display name and sign-in provider (via Firebase Authentication).

Learning data

To sync your progress we store: bookmarks, notes and highlights; memorisation cards and reviews; quiz attempts; Coach and chat messages; recitation sessions; dua and dhikr logs; prayer and fasting logs; Arabic progress; and Kids Mode profiles and activity. The same list is shown in the app under Settings → Account → Privacy.

What other people can see

If you add friends, join a study circle or appear on a leaderboard, your display name and your progress are visible to the other people there. Sharing progress with the leaderboard is on by default; you can turn it off in Settings → Account → Privacy.

Location, microphone & camera

  • Location is used for prayer times and the qibla. Your coordinates are sent to our servers, which calculate the times and send them back; we do not use them for anything else.
  • The microphone is used only when you record a recitation for feedback. The recording is sent to a speech-recognition service ([[speech recognition provider]]) to be transcribed and analysed, and is kept for [[period]].
  • The camera is used only when you scan a page of the mushaf or photograph your handwriting. The image is sent to Microsoft Azure OpenAI to be read and scored.

This website

If you join the waitlist or the beta, or send feedback, we store what you submit (such as your email, device and message) to contact you about that. Your IP address is passed to our server to limit repeat submissions; it is not stored with what you send. Donations, once open, are processed by [[payment provider]].

No advertising SDKs. We don’t sell your data.

AI-generated content

Coach answers, verse explanations and the Kids Mode stories are written by an AI model from the Quran and hadith text. Kids Mode has no chat, but the stories a child reads are machine-written retellings, not a scholar’s words. Nothing the AI writes is a religious ruling.

Children

Kids Mode profiles are created and controlled by a parent or guardian. [[COPPA / GDPR-K statement]]

Your rights

  • Export: Settings → Account → Privacy → Export my data.
  • Delete: Settings → Account → Privacy → Delete account. Permanent after 30 days; you can cancel during that time.
  • Erasure request: a formal GDPR request is reviewed and processed within 30 days.
